Description: Water heaters are a mechanical process that uses an outside energy source to rapidly heat water above its original temperature. Typical domestic applications of hot water comprise bathing, cooking, drinking, and room heating. In industry, water heated to very high steam have several important uses. Steam is generally considered to be of superior thermal conductivity compared to water at room temperature; hence they have been found to be cost-effective means of keeping large rooms warm. There are many types of water heaters available on the market today.
Type One – All tankless water heaters are created in one of two ways. Either they operate on electricity or they run by using a type of compressed gas such as propane or natural gas. Both of these methods have their pros and cons when it comes to using them in North America. Tankless units consume less fuel, which makes them more environmentally friendly; however, they cannot produce as much heating power as other methods. Also, the larger the capacity of the unit the harder it is to maintain it efficiently. These units do not provide a consistent heat source.
Type Two – Many of the tankless heated water heaters on the market today use gas to generate the heat they produce. Because this technology is still new to North America, most appliances have not yet been retrofitted to work with it. This makes these units very inefficient when it comes to heating temperatures over very large distances. They also tend to produce very little warmth for any appreciable length of time.
Type Three – The third type of hot water heater is the tank heat pump. These units use a liquid such as Freon that is tanked in a tank less than the size of the appliance. When the temperature outside drops, the Freon is able to absorb the drop in temperature and begin circulating heat through the unit. As the Freon circulates the gas becomes hot and the water begins to be heated.
All three types of water heaters have their advantages and disadvantages. There are advantages to using the tankless type of unit, but there are also disadvantages to using these types of devices. In general, the smaller the appliance the less energy it takes to operate. Also, since they do not contain a Freon tank, tankless water heaters tend to have a lower efficiency rating than the tank heaters.
If we want to make sure that we are getting all of the energy we need from our heating needs, it would be a good idea to invest in an efficient water heater. There are several companies out there that manufacture efficient water heaters for the home. The most important thing to keep in mind when shopping for one is the size of the unit. It would not make any sense to purchase a huge energy efficient unit if it is too small to heat your home. Luckily, there are many different sizes available so regardless of how large or small your home is, there is sure to be a unit that will be perfect for it.
